pre-prosthetic exercise programs, as well as instruction on
prosthetic gait evaluation and standardized prosthetic gait

Sheila has practiced as a clinical physical therapist for 23 years, focusing on the rehabilitation of
persons with lower limb loss for over a decade. She received her Masters of Physical Therapy
from the University of Michigan, and her PhD at the University of Miami with a focus on
Amputee Rehabilitation and Musculoskeletal Prosthetics, under the advising of Dr. Bob Gailey.
Sheila’s dissertation work is focused on investigating functional mobility in lower limb
amputees utilizing performance-based outcome measures, including the Component Timed-Upand-Go test (cTUG). She has received awards for her research and has presented results at
national and international conferences, being well received by both the physical therapy and
prosthetic communities.
