Recon Hack #2001

“Lock it up”

Problem: A missing lug nut can cost upwards of $30 for some high-end vehicles, but the real cost comes from holding the vehicle up for days waiting for a special-order part. The average dealer spends $38.16 per day just to keep a vehicle in stock. Hold that vehicle for 2-days waiting on some lug nuts and that little missing piece will easily cost you $76.32 before you pay for the part.

Hack: Call the local parts store and order an aftermarket wheel lock kit. With internal markup you’ll likely be out less than $25, the part can be delivered in an hour in most cases, and you’ll have a set of four lug nuts to work with.
